Og'ers Kush
** This article is still a work in progress **
The OG’ers Kush story starts with OrgnKid. In the late 90s/early 2000s OrgnKid had a network of local home growers he was able to buy from. He worked deals to make everyone happy and was smart enough to realize that if his “home growers” had the best cuts then he could increase his sales price. Allegedly, Orgnkid was making over 7k a pound with the Bubba Kush cut, but heard about a OG Kush cut that was fetching around 8k a pound. He didn’t have a direct connect to the cut, but eventually learned that his friend, “Doobie” was working for a partner of Josh D. Doobie ends up linking OrgnKid up with his partner, “Shawn”. They worked out a deal which is allegedly for 5k cash upfront and then 5lbs of finished OG Kush after the first round comes down. In total, the OG Kush cut cost OrgnKid roughly 45k!
Since OrgnKid had his network of growers he saw this as a good investment opportunity. He claims to have bought all the flower for his growers for around 5k/lb. He then sold that flower for over 7k/lb. Since most of his growers were running Bubba at the time he wanted to get them the next best thing so he could get closer to that 8k price point. In saying this, It is no secrete that OrgnKid wanted to maximize the return on his investment.
Since there were no parameters set on what OrgnKid could or couldn’t do with the cut he wanted to make S1 and sell those as another avenue to make his money back. Only problem was, at the time, OrgnKid didn’t have any “room” available for that kind of project so he ends up driving the OG Kush cut from LA to GoldenEyes in Eugene, Oregon. He gives her the cut (as well as others) to make feminized seeds with. GoldenEyes reverses the OG Kush cut to create the feminized line. It is rumored GoldenEyes did multiple reversal projects for Orgnkid around that time and there was some cross contamination in the Bubba S1 and Purple Rhino S1. This is important as OrgnKid has stayed firm that there was ZERO cross contamination in the OG Kush reversal to create the OGers line. OrgnKid guesstimates that GoldenEyes returned roughly 10,000 OG Kush S1 seeds to him. Later in the story you will learn about Wesos who claims to have found a “true male” in a pack of those seeds he purchased. While the probability of Wesos finding a “true male” in those seeds is rare (some would say impossible) as far as we know it is scientifically possible. Unfortunately, GoldenEyes doesn’t seem to be a big part of cannabis history, but she is arguably the most important part of the OG’ers Kush story as she is physically responsible for creating them.
After OrgnKid got the feminized seeds back from GoldenEyes he says the first batch were sold to Gypsy Nirvana and sent to Europe. Most were sold on Seed Bay under Cali Kush Seeds. Oddly, A lot of OrgnKids OG Kush S1 seeds were mislabeled as “Ogres” instead of the intended name, OG’ers. This mistake creates ALOT of confusion to this day and probably originated with Gypsy Nirvana. For those that don’t know, “Orgers” has no relation to OG’ers. “Ogres” is a totally separate Sensi Star cut that has no affiliation to OGers. There is no clear answer to why this mislabeling happened, but the assumption illegible handwriting or bad deciphering.
Around the same time the S1 seeds are being sold OrgnKid starts selling cuts of the OG kush on Cannabis World and Overgrow. This is where Ghost1 comes into the story. OrgnKid sells the OG Kush cut to Ghost1 on Overgrow and claims they agreed to half the money down and the other half of the money comes after the clone is planted. Ghost1 lived in Michigan at the time so the clone shipped from LA to Michigan. Allegedly, After Ghost1 gets the cut, OrgnKid never hears from him again.
A year or so later OrgnKid hears from people in the Bay Area that they have this amazing weed they’re calling “ghost” because it came from a guy in Michigan named Ghost. This is where the name Ghost OG comes from. It is a “name of association” or “name of origin” not a name of a “new OG kush phenotype”. While OrgnKid sold seeds and clones of the OG Kush cut first he didn’t come close to selling as many cuts as Ghost1 did. Ghost1 quickly became popular since the OG Kush cut produced such high quality bud and he sold the cut to so many different people. Thus, his “forum username” Ghost1 started to get attached to the OG Kush cut.
There are rumors that Ghost1 always called the OG cut “Ghost OG” when he sold it. Regardless, if he did or others did the original OG Kush cut quickly circulated the community as Ghost OG.
It is also important to note that Josh D now refers to the original OG Kush clone as OGKS (OG Kush Story). The OGers Kush feminized line has always been based around the original OG Kush clone. So the linage of OGers Kush has always been (OG Kush x OG Kush). Since OrgnKid and the 3C’s Seed Company sold thousands of OGers Kush feminized seeds from 2002-2006 it is believed that most the OG cuts from that period were found in OGers Kush seeds. Some examples of those cuts include Fire OG, Hells Angels OG, Diablo OG, Larry OG, G-cut, Skywalker OG, etc.
Now here is where things get interesting. Wesos claims to have bought a pack of OGers Kush and found a “true male.” He then claims to take that true male and pollinated his best OGers Kush females creating the F1 line. Wesos documented pictures of the male he found on ICMAG.
Stash then made OG’ers Kush F2s.
El Aleph made F3s and passed them to PreCaylx.
PreCaylx made OG’er Kush F4s.
The Plant Stable made OGers Kush F5s and many F1 Hybrids you can find in our store.
While we don’t have much information on the OGers Kush regular line we believe there was some kind of genetic “contamination” in the regular seed line. If we had to make an educated guess there is probably some Bubba Kush linage or some kind of X factor the community still hasn’t learned about yet. Wesos, if you’re reading this please get in contact with us. We’d love to get more information on the OGers Kush F1 Story. For now this is the best we have. We plan to keep the OGers Kush stroy alive by using its linage in our breeding work.
